About the Singapore National Committee

The United World College Singapore National Committee is one of over 150 national committees worldwide responsible for the selection, sponsoring and assistance of Singaporean youth attending a United World College abroad. For over 30 years, Singaporean teenagers have lived, studied, and grown at a UWC. The Singapore National Committee operates independently from the United World College of South East Asia (UWCSEA). The students the committee selects are sent to a college outside of Singapore.

The selection of Singaporean students is solely based on merit and motivation, independent of financial background. If necessary, students are sponsored with a needs-based partial or full scholarship.

The Singapore National Committee is composed of a group of volunteers who strongly believe in the UWC mission to foster intercultural understanding and sustainable change through education. UWC alumni give their time as part of the selections committee, outreach, and networking. We take our responsibility seriously to enable promising Singaporean students to benefit from this transformative experience.

Apart from selections and outreach, the committee organises alumni reunions and networking events to keep the UWC spirit alive well after the completion of the two-year programme.
